On the 13th and 14th March 1999, the Pan-Hellen Dance Competition
took place, which was organised by ERT A.E.
The winner was Maria Boubouli (student of the
Municipal Ballet School of Larissa) and she was chosen to represent
Greece at the 8th Grand Prix Eurovision,
that was to take place at the famous theatre of the Opera
of Lyon.
The finals, which took place on the 10th July were broadcasted
live by E.R.T. Television.
It is the first time that a non-Athenian dancer becomes the
representative of her country at a European event.
Nikoleta Batzalexi and Olga Tsimourta both students of the same
school reached the finals of the Competition too, performing
exceptionally.
The variations that Maria Boubouli danced were: "Le Corsaire"
and "Don Quixote".
All three girls are trained by Gesh Mihov , Director of the
School.
It must be noted that Maria Boubouli was the
youngest contestant at the 8th Eurovision Competition and also
the first Greek dancer to ever reach the Finals.
