There has been a successful Dance Gala, under the title "Dance of Expression and Creation", done on 17 and 18, April, at the Theatre "Melina Merkouri", at Kalamaria.

It's about an International Dance Festival organized by the institution "Melina Merkouri", the International FAIR in Thessaloniki and the Municipal Dance School of Kalamaria.

This year the Gala was honored by the participation of a number of renowned Dance Schools from Sofia, Ismyr, Beograd, Palermo, Stuttgart, Rotterdam, Kalamaria, Larissa, and some great ballet dancers, such as Arsen Mehrabyan, prized at the 20 th International Dance Contest -Varna 2000 with "Iovilaio Prize" as well as the "Gold Medal", also by Boiko Dossev, awarded the "First Prize" and the "Gold Medal" at the International Dance Contest - Varna 2000.

Splendi was also the presence of a number of dance celebrities, such as Emil Dimitrov, Director of the International Dance Contest of Varna, and Lazar Plicetsky, a famous teacher of top dancers.

Commentator at this brilliant Dance Gala was Alexis Kostalas.

The Municipal Ballet School of Larissa performed "Etude" worked out from "Karmen"(chorography by Kamelia Damali). The Ballerinas to perform it were: Konstantina Vassiou, Evagelia Zioga, Eleana Koka, Vassiliki Koute, Despina Margaritopoulou, Despina Papathanassiou, Stefania Petridi, Stavriela Hatzihristou.

The choreography "You and Me" by Kamelia Damali, was done by Evagelia Zioga and Stefania Petridi.

All ballerinas were escorted to Kalamaria by their teachers, Mrs. Kamelia Damali and Ritsa Zaharia and the executive of Public Relations, Mrs. Vicky Bassiakou.
