Maurice Ravel composed this music for the dancer
I. Rubinstein and was performed in the 1928
by choreographer B Nijinska.
It is the story of a gypsy that dances to the repeated theme
of the music, on a table in a tavern causing progressively the
ecstasy of the onlookers.
The choreography by Maurice Bejart is also
remarkable.
The artistic director of the Thessalian Ballet Company,
Gesh Mihov, gave his own interpretation of
the work with a neoclassic choreography for a strong corps de
ballet and strong technical soloists.
1992: it was performed in Larissa by the Professional
Level Preparatory Class of Municipal Ballet School of Larissa.
1997: a new version was performed by the Thessalian
Ballet Company.
