It is a traditional Christmas Ballet.
It tells the story of a little girl, Clara,
who is given a Nutcracker by her Godfather,
Drosselmeyer for Christmas. She falls asleep and dreams that
she defends it against the King of the Mice.
The Nutcracker then changes into a handsome Prince, who takes
her on a fabulous journey, passing through a snowstorm, they
come to the Kingdom of Sweets, where the Sugar-plum fairy honours
then with a grand divertissement.
M. Petipa wanted to produce the ballet himself,
